2 Videos In 1

This week has been a busy one. On early Friday morning I did a review of Paranormal Activity 2 which has had good reception among people. On Saturday I visited a local bookstore/cafe (Shallow Creek to be exact) and recorded a friend of mine performing. Another old friend happened to be there and I recorded his set as well. Out of a nice night of performances I managed to get two videos out of it. The first is a cover of Would? by Alice In Chains as performed by Joe Doty. The next is a cover of Yesterday by The Beatles which was a duet by both Joe Doty and Chad Shoemaker. They were both amazing.

Chad is leaving for Florida soon and it is a very sad time as he was an actor in my film Gas Guzzlers, which has been an amazing success so far. I only wish him the best in his future acting endeavors.

Old Blizzard Video

So this past winter season in Maryland was probably one of the worst...if not THE worst ever. With a ton of snow storms and one of the biggest blizzards in recent memory we got hit hard. On February 9, 2010 myself and my close friend Hector decided to go out in the storm. Along with us we brought a camera and plenty of sledding gear. It was a crazy day that day and I wish we could have filmed more but the extreme cold left my camera not even able to film. We got mild frostbite and enjoyed a huge meal at Denny's but at least we got most of it on camera. This coming winter season I only hope can be as crazy, because those are the best memories. Enjoy this short blizzard diary.

Breakdown

My new short film entitled Breakdown is now up on youtube. The short film is all about the end of a relationship and the toll that it takes on a person. I do not use any actors or dialogue to convey this emotion, only video and music. I wanted to make this short as disjointed as possible and the decision to use no actors I think only adds to the artistic value of the piece. I hope that you can feel what I feel when I watch this short film.

Remebering a Great Woman

Nancy Hart was my grandmother, friend, and inspiration. Nancy was always there for me all throughout my life. She would babysit me from birth until I got old enough to be home by myself. She was a woman who would give me the best advice, and would show me a more positive way of seeing the world. When I was bullied in school she showed me that aggression was never the answer, and that the Lord was there to help me and that he would. She taught me the importance of things like the bible and religion in life. Although I now do not fully believe in organized religion she still accepted me for who I was. That was the other thing she taught me so well...acceptance of others was a value she placed very high. She showed me not to pass judgment on people. She died not too long ago today and I will never forget the special place that she has in my heart. I know she was very close to Tony and I know that now she will be able to find him and once again they can be happy together.

In many ways the film that I did this summer "Gas Guzzlers," took a lot from what she taught me in life and I always wanted nothing more than to show her the film and now I can't. I did a True Docs this summer where I interviewed her about family and I am so happy to have film of her that will live on and carry on her many messages. I hope that she is proud of what I have done and I always want her to know that I love her very much.
